About the Author

Anne Jacobson does not exist.
Behind that pseudonym hides a young woman who fears public exposure. Jacobson was a member of a Jewish Hasidic community in America. At the age of sixteen, she had a forbidden romantic and sexual encounter with a Hispanic teenager who worked in her parents’ garden. In the eyes of the religious community in which she lived, this kind of act was unpardonable. She was sent away to a boarding school for girls in Israel, so she wouldn’t harm the chances of her brothers and sisters to find suitable matches.
At the dorm, Anne experienced erotic love affairs with a fellow student and the house mother. She also suffered the abuse of a male teacher who desired her. One night, she managed to escape, and after wandering the streets of Jerusalem and being sexually assaulted by teenagers in a mosque, was taken to the house of a foreign diplomat. She spent several months living with him in an ongoing revelry of sex and control games, gradually taking the place of his aging female companion. When the latter threatened to murder her, Anne gathered her courage and escaped the diplomat’s house in an unexpected and dramatic way.
Anne Jacobson studied Hebrew and English (before that she mainly spoke Yiddish and some English) and returned to the bosom of one of the Jewish orthodox communities in Jerusalem. She married, studied social work and secretly read books that were banned by the community rabbis.
