It took me a long time to get down to writing novels. It was always my plan, but somehow life got in the way. Even though I was a professional writer, that was all about business journalism. It took me many years to convince myself to try my hand at fiction. Finally I did, and I’m hoping I’ll never have to look back. My favoured genre was always going to be mystery dramas, and that’s the field I’ve opted for. Basically I sat down to write exactly the kind of book I would want to read myself, hoping that my audience would feel the same way.
I was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, but have lived nearly my adult life in London, so these places are providing natural settings for what I’m writing. But the action of my books ranges pretty widely around the UK and abroad.
My professional career involved contributing to and editing business magazines covering the fascinating world of freighting and logistics, and I've set myself the challenge of making that world sound exciting in fiction! So far (trust me on this) it seems to have provided some pretty effective backdrops. When I’m not writing I’m usually building web sites, mostly for other people. However, the writing has finally given me a reason to build a site for myself. I suppose it’s all about standing up and being counted.
