About the Author

As a young man, Gary J. George lived in the eastern Mojave Desert and tramped the washes, hills and mountains there for nine years. He has a deep and abiding love of the Mojave. All five of his current novels take place in that setting in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Gary also brings a wealth of work and life experience to his writing. He has held the following jobs in his long and varied working life: Busboy, waiter, service station attendant, radio announcer, rural bread route delivery driver, Southern California Gas Company employee, Santa Fe Railway employee, United States Army officer, high school teacher, tennis professional, retail store owner, insurance agent, city councilman, college teacher, and site manager for a West Maui private residential development. He is married to Virginia Boyd, author of the children’s book “Birdybird.”
