About the Author

In May 1874, Dan W. Roberts was given his commission as second lieutenant of Company "D" of the Ranger Battalion; he would remain with them for the next eight years. After his service with the Texas Rangers Roberts worked as a stock raiser and miner. He lived out his days in Austin, Texas, with his wife Luvenia. He passed away in 1935.
