Amy L Gale is a romance author by night, pharmacist by day who loves rock music and the feel of sand between her toes. When she’s not writing, she enjoys baking, scary movies, rock concerts, and reading books at the beach. As our Author of the Day, Gale chats about her book, Blissful Disaster, why she made her heroine clumsy and talks about the importance of humor in storytelling.
Please give us a short introduction to Blissful Disaster
Ali Whitman wakes up after a night of celebrating her new promotion next to a handsome tattooed man she knows nothing about. After an initial internal freak-out she assesses the situation and forms a plan to move on and leave the night far behind her. But Tyler is hard to resist.
What inspired you to write this book?
I never wanted Prince Charming(even though I got him in real life). I've always loved hot rockers.
Why did you decide to make your protagonists kick off with a one night stand?
I wanted Ali to let her guard down and give love a chance after all she's been through but she decides to focus on work and not date to protect herself. She'd never hooked up with anyone, let alone a rock star
Why do Ali and Tyler make such a good couple?
They are both flawed characters who can't resist the one person they never knew they needed.
What is it about rock stars that make them so irresistible?
The raw emotion coming from their music, the way they command the stage, the sexy bad-boy no-rules-apply lifestyle. And rugged good looks add to the appeal :)
Ali is really clumsy - why did you create her this way?
I wanted to create a character who's real and relatable and I'm pretty clumsy myself.
Your book contains a lot of humor. Why do you find humor important in storytelling?
Humor is important in life. Everyone needs to see the light side of a situation. Plus, I love a guy who can make me laugh.
Besides writing, what other secret skills do you have?
I bake and decorate cakes for fun (I've made 3 wedding cakes and a bunch of Birthday cakes).
Are any of the characters in the book based on real people?
All my characters have some characteristics of people in real life. I tend to blend them in. I'll never tell who they are, lol.
What are you working on right now?
I’m currently writing a Paranormal Romance and I’m participating in a Sci-fi/PNR boxset, a Forbidden Love boxset and a holiday romance boxset.
