Lisa Lace - Intergalactic Mail Order Brides

Lisa Lace - Intergalactic Mail Order Brides
author of the day

Lisa Lace loves writing books that feature good-looking aliens, strong independent Earth girls and happy endings. Her latest book from the Auxem series, Ayrie, is no exception. As our Author of the Day, Lace reveals what inspired her to write about intergalactic mail order brides, why she writes sci-fi romance and what she thinks the secret is to everlasting love.

Please give us a short introduction to what Ayrie is about.

The Auxem experienced a catastrophe that killed all the females on their planet.  To save their species, they're taking women from Earth.

What inspired you to write about Intergalactic Mail Order Brides?

I wanted to take a primarily Western trope into a new setting.  It's been a lot of fun so far!

Tell us about Ayrie - what is it about this alien that makes him so special?

He's rich, an alpha male, arrogant, and gorgeous!

Why sci-fi romance? What drew you to this specific genre?

I like writing stories where the only limits are my imagination, not real life.

Even though some of your characters are aliens and the stories take place in surreal worlds, your characters are very believable and relatable. How do you pull this off?

Every guy I write is a combination of my life experience and my fantasies.  I put a lot of myself in my books!

Besides writing, what other secret skills do you have?

The loyal readers on my email list know I love baking!

Why do you think Elle and Ayrie make such a good couple?

They have a natural chemistry and are making the best of a bad situation.

Your books are all standalones with happy ever afters. Why do you take this approach?

It's nice to have a series with related books, but a clear ending for each couple.  The leads in Water World Warrior make a prominent appearance in this book, and some other characters from TerraMates will be dropping by!

What do you hope readers will take away from this book? Does it have an underlying message?

I hope people read this book through to the end and it helps them escape their daily life.  That's what I see my role as - letting the readers think about something else for a few hours!

What, would you say, is the secret to everlasting love?

Being able to listen and compromise.

What is the most romantic thing you have ever experienced personally?

My spouse made me a thousand cranes before we got married!

Do you have any interesting writing habits? Favorite writing spot, best time of the day to write etc.?

I turn off all social media when I'm writing!

What are you working on right now?

I'm currently writing a contemporary romance for October.  It's about a girl, a boy, and an app.
