VA Dold - Sexy Vampires and Strong Female Characters
VA Dold

V.A. Dold is the USA Today Bestselling author of the Award-winning Le Beau Series, League of Guardians series, and K.I.S.S series. A Midwest native, with her heart lost to the French Quarter. She has a penchant for titillating tales featuring sexy men and strong women. As our Author of the Day, she tells us all about her latest novel, Etienne.

Please give us a short introduction to what Etienne is about.

Etienne is the long awaited story of the vampire king. The reader first meets him in Cade of the Le Beau series and he shows up every so often in that series. The readers loved him so much I had to write his story. It gets a little rough since his identical twin wants him dead so he can take the throan but it has a HEA.

What inspired you to write a book featuring twin vampire brothers?

My muse. That was the way the story presented itself.

This is book two in the series. Can it be read as a standalone? How does it tie in with the first book?

There are a few tie ins and more vampire and witch hunter background in Dangerous Destiny.

Tell us more about Ettiene and Willa. Why do they make such a great couple?

Etienne is very calm and proper, whereas Willa is loud, crass, and larger than life. He calms her down, she spices him up.

Your book also contains a lot of humor. Why did you take this approach?

It's just the way I am. What is life without a little humor?

Besides writing, what other secret skills do you have? I'm an excellent cook, and I can draw rather well, though I haven't done that in years.

Give us three "Good to Know" facts about you

Never come between me and my morning coffee. If you are a finger tapper, leg giggler, and any other form of aggravating energy, I will slap you down. That drives me insane. I talk to my computer, it makes opperates better when I do.

How do you balance all of the demands of a successful writing career (writing, appearances, etc.) and the myriad personal life demands?

I am lucky enough to have grown children so I have more time than some authors. I also survive on very little sleep and a lot of coffee.

Have you always known you wanted to be a writer? What inspired your debut?

Nope. Not at all. The bug bit me about two years before I broke down and wrote Cade.

Was there a particular character whose voice you found it easiest to write in?

That is a toss up between Cade, Mark Anderson, and Etienne for the men. Anna and WIlla were super easy for the women.

What is your favorite motivational phrase?

Huh, I don't really have one. If I decide I want to do somthing I make it happen. I guess "Just do it."

Do you consider yourself a disciplined writer? Do you have a schedule that you stick to, or is it more in the moment?

Not at all. I try to write everyday but that is a disciplined as I get. When writing becomes a chore I'm done.

What are you working on right now?

I am rewriting Race to Tebow and turning it into a vampire/witch story. It's going ot be awesome! KIndle world went to down and I got my story back. I'm so excited.

Where can our readers discover more of your work or interact with you?
