I enjoyed the story line but felt that it could have had a little more depth to it. I had hoped that it would describe better how the prairie farmers in the early 1900's "reclaimed" the land. It was difficult to follow at times, especially in the beginning. It would probably make a better movie than a novel.
This book was unreadable. The writing was poor. The storyline didn't work. I love Oz--but didn't keep this one.
Best collection of mystery short stories ever written.
Read this several years ago and wasn't much impressed. I thought the heroine wasn't much to write home about and the young man she falls in love with was a simp. Read as a historical curiosity.
