Geek Mafia

by Rick Dakan

Absolutely awesome book, with a great plot and an inspiration to Geeks that don't know what to do with their lives.

The Time Machine

by H.G. Wells

I read it many years ago for the first time and a couple times since. While I might agree it may require some amount of patience before it manages to engage the reader -- what with the Olde English prose and all -- I think it's well worth the effort. I found Well's vivid description of the underground world, its inhabitants (the Morlocks), and how they came to be chilling. In sum, it was very horrific and thought-provoking story that's right up there with Shelley's Frankenstein.

Author of the Day

Angela Roquet
Angela Roquet loves everything macabre - with a dash of comedy. She is also fascinated by world religions, the afterlife and mythology. This clearly shows in her work, where mythological characters tend to make an appearance, showing off their more mundane sides. Today, Roquet talks to us about what inspired her book, Graveyard Shift, why she has a female reaper in the leading role and how she used to raise eyebrows in public with the types of books she was reading.
