From the Hands of Hostile Gods

by Darren R. Hawkins

An excellent read, especially if you are a techie. Enough twists and turns to keep you intrigued without losing you. If sure people will find holes in some of the tech assumptions, but then think of how when star trek started the tech was unthinkable. I could easily see this book being turned into a movie.

An excellent, if long, read. The concepts are excellent, the tech is sound, and the story will keep you engrossed. Without giving anything away, the ending was both excellent, and disappointing, but I go the feeling the author was leaving it open to possibility a second book, not that it's needed, the story is complete in itself, but a "next step" book would be excellent!

12 Steps

by Darren R. Hawkins

A very good read, but dark, very dark. Although there is an underlying story, it's more a view on a side of life few of us will see, if we are lucky. It's one of those books that is addictive in a very subtle way, every time I put it down I was looking forward to picking it up again.
