Vanity Fair

by William Makepeace Thackeray

I found this satire with so much tragedy it wasn't funny. It shows a lot of hypocrisy in their society and it also reflects ours in some ways.

Ulysses

by James Joyce

This book can only be read by an english major in Itish literature. I found it totally unreadable to me. I read books for plot, not for fancy literature tricks. I only recommend this if you are doing a term paper for your masters or Phd.

Treasure Island

by Robert Louis Stevenson

None of the movies do this classic any justice. Even Kenner Classic Tales from the 70s made poor on this tale. Read the book. Don't even waste any time on the movies.

Moby Dick

by Herman Melville

Its a great book but a little long winded. Old scientific explanations and how things are done are ok but that took half the book. The movies were ok but did not show the human side of Captain Ahab like the book does. In all a good read.
