The Book of Anecdotes and Budget of Fun

by Various Authors

This book is hilarious! As a living historian, it's helpful for me to not only know what topics were discussed in history, but also what jokes were told. Having studied history in depth, I "get" the background for these jokes and find them highly entertaining.

I beg to differ with the previous reviewer (who may possibly have not read more than the first page or two). Though this book includes some jokes that we would consider racially slanted, the majority are not. And even the racial jokes, when understood in their historical context, are almost all non-offensive.

The Light of Western Stars

by Zane Grey

Great Book! Zane Grey is a master at bringing the old west to us 100 years later. I can "see" with his creative writing, the vast expanse and rough territory that was the wild west. Every book I have read (this makes #9) keeps me enthralled to the very last page and he always ends each book wonderfully! I plan on reading everything this man had written - he is that good!

Author of the Day

George A. Santino
From a very young age, George A. Santino realized that if you wanted something, you had to work for it - even if that meant digging for soda bottles in trash cans. This attitude got him far in life - he received four rejections from Microsoft before they employed him in an entry level position. Years later, he made partner and managed to retire at age 55. As our author of the day, Santino tells us more about his autobiography and what it takes to get back up in life.
