Reviews by James Lewis

The Journal of a Tour to the Hebrides with Samuel Johnson

by James Boswell

Fascinating read. Primitive travel history (1773) in a remote part of Scotland, sleeping wherever, eating whatever for 2 upper class Londoners with a servant or 2. I Would like to read the servants account.
Criticisms had to do with the download
-heavily footnoted with no way to get to the note.
-many French, Latin phrases without ability to translate.
-inserts, such as other peoples comments, not included.
In short, good read, not good for a Kindle download. I will have to put this back on my list and read the actual book.

Author of the Day

Madison Kent
Growing up, Madison Kent has always been fascinated by the mere fact that Jack the Ripper, one of the most notorious murders ever known, escaped justice. She would dream of her own alternative version of the facts and decided to write her own story, in which the suspects are totally different people. As our author of the day, Kent chats about this book of hers, Stalking Jack, how much research she did on London and Whitechapel and how her characters were conceived.
