Well written, interesting as the stories unfold, kept me intrigued.

The Monastery

by Walter Scott

Interesting story, beautiful writing, of course. The start is REALLY slow - a guy is given a book to give to the world and seeks a publisher's help, who tells him he should be the publisher. Not sure what that was all about.

The story itself is about two brothers and their interaction between the local priests and politics, intermingled with a ghostly woman in white who seeks to give advice and lead them, and others, to a Bible and its teachings (very heretic to the teachings of the Catholic priests who feel it's demonic to read the Bible instead of taking their interpretation of it), as well as both being in love with the same woman. Great history.
