The Nebuly Coat

by J. Meade Falkner

If you've ever found yourself lamenting that Hardy and Trollope haven't written anything lately, this novel may be to your taste. It's full of the flatlands atmosphere and awash in apparently accurate details of cathedral construction. The plot is rather transparent--the experienced reader will have figured it out half way through, but the ride to the end is still worth it. Plus, it's rare that a book title sends me to the dictionary, as this one did.

Author of the Day

A. W. Exley
When A.W. Exley isn't deciphering hieroglyphs or riding her horse sidesaddle, she is thinking up plots for her next best-seller. Nefertiti's Heart is a beautiful mixture of all Exley's passions in life, set in a Steampunk society, featuring a very Egyptian theme. As our Author of the Day, she chats with us about her fascination with Egypt, why she picked an alternate universe for Nefertiti and how she shaped the book.
