A liitle bit pulp and little noir in only a dozen pages. May leave you, too, with a smile or at least a smirk. Very good.

Willful young heiress falls in love with young man in portrait. He's imprisoned on a devil's island for murder. There is plenty of action and suspense, and it's well written. You could figure out the ending pretty early on, but instead just sit back and enjoy.

Charming, dream-like ghost tale, with an O'Henry-ish ending. (Considering the message and who delivers it.) Set in Paris with nice local color.

Dunce of an amateur detective poses as heiress' fiance. She thinks someone else is posing as her, fooling her friends and her banker. Interesting idea. Would have been shorter if he had been smarter.
Spoiler alert: do no read earlier review of this book.
