The Count of Monte Cristo

by Alexandre Dumas, père

This is, by far, my favorite book....EVER! Edmond is so angsty and turns into this amazing wrathful god who is gentle and loving one moment, and vengeful the next. Sweet Haydee, who adores him is all the sweetness of Woman. The characters are intelligent and thought provoking. They show themselves to be all the evil and goods of humanity. The perfect story of love, hate, revenge and redemption.

As a side note, read the unabridged version (this one is unabridged). You miss so much in the abridgements of this classic.

Author of the Day

Quinn Coleridge
Quinn Colebridge is more at ease with the surreal than the pragmatic. As our Author of the Day, Colebridge chats about her characters, world building and introduces us to her bestseller in the Gaslamp Fantasy genre - Veritas.
