The Triflers

by Frederick Orin Bartlett

A "trifling" story in which a marriage is blithely undertaken because he was rather lonesome and accommodating and she wanted more independence and was bothered by importunate suitors. Of course it is very harrowing when they really fall in love, and the situation is complicated by the appearance of a former almost successful suitor, now a blighted being because of his rejected love. Brightly written and entertaining in its way.

Author of the Day

Madison Kent
Growing up, Madison Kent has always been fascinated by the mere fact that Jack the Ripper, one of the most notorious murders ever known, escaped justice. As our author of the day, Kent chats about this book of hers, Stalking Jack, how much research she did on London and Whitechapel and how her characters were conceived.
