Song of the Lark

by Willa Cather

Set in the 1890s in Moonstone, a fictional Colorado town, The Song of the Lark is a powerful self-portrait of an artist in the making. The story revolves around ambitious young Thea Kronborg, who leaves her hometown for the big city to fulfill her dream of becoming a famous opera star. This is probably Cather's most autobiographical work.
