Pocket Island

by Charles Clark Munn

Pocket Island, a rocky barren bit broken from the coast of Maine, is the scene of the tragedy. Connecticut furnishes the hero and the heroine, and of course the love story, while the Civil War is an episode. The author knows men, and is a master in the types he describes; but he knows nature, too, and not the least interesting portions of the book are the bits of word painting in which the most delicate parts of his tale are set.
