Boys and Girls Bookshelf; a Practical Plan of Character Building, Volume I

by Various Authors

Books are as essentially a part of the home where boys and girls are growing into manhood and womanhood as any other part of the furnishings. Parents have no more right to starve a child’s mind than they have his body. If a child is to take his place among the men and women of his time he needs to know the past out of which the present grew, and he needs to know what is going on in the world in which he lives. He needs tools for his brain as much as for his hands. All these things are found, and found only, in books.

Author of the Day

William A. Liggett
Some of Bill Liggett's earliest memories are of climbing over the rocks near their family cabin in the mountains. He has always had a love for nature and a keen interest in science, which inspired him to start writing books in the "cli-fi" genre, where behavioral and earth sciences are blended to create riveting fiction. As our Author of the Day, Liggett talks about his book, Watermelon Snow, his research and reveals why he put a positive spin on a book about global warming.
