Bobbsey Twins Series
For many years the Stratemeyer Syndicate's longest-running series of children's novels, penned under the pseudonym Laura Lee Hope. The Bobbsey family consists of the father, Richard, a successful lumber merchant, the mother, Mary a ''stay-at-home mom,'' Bert and Nan, the older of two sets of fraternal twins, and Flossie and Freddie, the younger twins. The earliest Bobbsey books are mainly episodic strings of adventures; with the growing popularity of the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew, detective plots began to dominate the series. Even so, few of the mysteries involved violent crime, and quite a few didn't involve any crime at all.
