I’ve been out of touch for the last few days, miles from an internet connection — or even a cell-phone signal! — and it seems my house had a touch of electical weirdness. Something surged and the router, DSL modem, and a couple other devices on the network started to act funny; maybe they missed me? Anyway, Greta was able to get it all restarted eventually, but I’m going to have to find a permanent solution… it’s just too annoying to have everything drop when I leave town. How am I supposed to get my email? How are you folks suppose to get reading material? How is Greta supposed to get her Google News fix? It’s chaos.

The first chapter from Eastern Shame Girl by Charles Georges Souli has been posted, and a podcast RSS feed is available from Talkr.com.

The original source of the stories appearing in “Eastern Shame Girl” is the classic literature of China during the 17th Century.

I’m on a bit of an iRex iLiad kick — now, if you select “Custom iLiad” from the download menu you’ll be presented with a form that allows for the customization of several aspects of the PDF layout: margins, fonts, font size, etc.

Simple, right now, but possibly more elaborate as I figure out what folks want. I’d also like to make it really simple and clear…. any suggestions?

After some mucking around the iLiad PDF format is ready to read — though I’m going to keep working on it, and possibly create a “build-your-own” link so visitors can modify margins, font size and face. The tool that’s currently used to convert HTML to PDF is also a little limited, so the spacing between paragraphs and justification can’t currently be controlled. That will change, if possible.
