mnybks.net - errors?

Saturday, November 25th, 2006

Seems the WAP site wasn’t working for a while — everything could be browsed, but there was no way to actually download a book. I hoped that it had been fixed, but it seems like no, as when I try to read a book (like Edward Jepson’s Arsène Lupin ) my RAZR displays an error message along the lines of “Invalid File”. Rats. Kind of unhelpful message, really.

Update - Maybe it’s the high-ASCII characters in that particular work? I downloaded Three Men in a Boat and it’s just fine. I hate mysterious errors like this.

But at the same time, I’ve got a good book on my phone now, :)

Sony Format improvements

Thursday, November 2nd, 2006

Well, a comment about the lack of information in the “author” field of custom PDFs got me digging around — and the Sony format (aka “LRF” or “BBeB”) got a few minor fixes:

  • Cover images
  • Author info

It’s so much easier when you can test the formatted file! When I first got the LRF format going I had a borrowed Librié but no Windows machine to hook it up to, and it was just too difficult to transfer files with a Mac. Now I’ve got a Sony Reader and there’s no need for desktop software to load a new book onto an SD card. Much better :)
