The door was round, about four feet in diameter, and set in a flattened part of the wall with its lower edge tangent with the floor. Rods about two inches thick projected a hand's breadth at four, eight, and twelve o'clock. The markings around them suggested that each could be rotated to three different positions. A variation on the man-wakes-up-in-a-mysterious-room story. A planetary mapping scout is captured by aliens who put him in a maze to test his intelligence. He purposely acts stupid and bewildered while waiting for rescue. But the aliens are in for a surprise when the rescue comes.
When you add implausible to unlikely, it becomes hard to take the story seriously. An okay story until the end.
