"Conejos?"

"No, Manuel, no. Only the people."

"No trouble. Might as well take them all."

"Only people--God give me strength!--only people, Manuel."

A tall tale about leprechaun-like people. Itís short and easy read, slightly creative, and attempts to be humorous. For me the story and humor was uninspiring.

A barely-bilingual Hispanic is hired to take the census of everyone in the desert outside of High Plains, Texas. He knows of nine people, but also lots of little people who need to be counted. So he sets off on his mule into the desert.

Manuel is a good character, the rest of the characters are pretty standard sci-fi officials.

Author of the Day

Graceley Knox & D.D. Miers
USA Today bestselling authors, Graceley Knox and D.D. Miers may be long-lost sisters, but their moms continue to deny it. They are most definitely the co-writers of the Kresova Vampire Harem series, as well as a multitude of other upcoming projects they can't wait to share with readers. Together they tend to share the same brain, finish each other's thoughts, laugh way too hard at inappropriate comments, drink enough coffee to qualify for an intervention, and talk about their fur babies. As our Authors ot the Day, they talk about their latest book, Girl Bitten, reveal what it takes to co-write books, explain what they do with new ideas and much more.
