adera: solamente se halla en las quebradas alguna leña menuda para hornos y para guisar la comida. No es el terruño bueno para sementeras, porque ademas de ser todo salitroso, es casi todo peña viva; ni hay mas agua dulce que las fuentes dichas. Hállase sí abundancia de barrilla, para hacer vidrio y jabon: abundancia de marmol colorado, con listas blancas, marmol negro, y alguno verde: mucha piedra de cal, y algunas peñas grandes de pedernales de escopeta, blancos y colorados, con algunos espejuelos dentro como diamantes: mucha piedra de amolar, y otra amarilla que parece vitriolo. De animales terrestres solo vieron guanacos, liebres y zorrillos. Aves algunas, pero casi todas marítimas, como patos de varias especies, chorlitos, gaviotas, &c. Hay leones marinos en gran número en los islotes dentro del puerto, y vieron manada de ellos de mas de ciento.
