d It finished--just as I tripped on a snake and fell--with a round bar of high C sound, that lasted a good minute (or until I was a quarter of a mile beyond where I had fallen), and was the color of butter, and could have been cut with a knife. And It stopped short--biff--just as if It had been chopped off.

That was the end of my village hunting.
