2024 Before Democracy by Tylor True

When an anthropologist named Theodore Hansen steals a cutting of a miracle plant from an Indigenous tribe in the Amazon rainforest, he sets a chain of events in motion that will change the world forever.

2024 Before Democracy is a visionary story about a man who, from a mere anthropologist, evolves into a key figure, igniting the spark for true democracy to take hold in the world. The first part, where Theodore Hansen acquires a miracle plant by less-than-scrupulous means, is just the beginning of his transformation. It chronicles how Theodore convinces a friend to lead him into the Amazon Rainforest to witness a miracle plant that the indigenous guardians have fiercely guarded for decades. Theodore risks his life stealing a cutting from this plant, which he then desperately tries to cultivate back in civilization.

His success results in Theodore becoming one of the wealthiest humans on the planet, but that is just the start of the tale. Theodore not only comes to regret what his distribution of the plant has done to the people of the world but is also disgusted by the greed and corruption he witnesses from governments and pharmaceutical companies.

This leads to the book's second part, where Theo uses his unimaginable wealth to start a political revolution in which the people hold power. His radical ideas make Theo and his family a big target, and the events that transpire lead to the third and final part, where Theo undergoes another drastic transformation. The finale is also one of the most action-packed parts of the book, with plenty of edge-of-your-seat moments.

The author, Tyler True, makes it very clear that he is dedicating his life to making his ideas for democracy mainstream, but that does not mean 2024 Before Democracy is a boring read. On the contrary, most of the book feels like a science fiction film or thrilling television series, which is no surprise given the author's experience writing screenplays. True never wavers from his message but has managed to wrap it up in a very thought-provoking and gripping tale that keeps readers guessing right to the end.

In addition to Theodore, 2024 Before Democracy includes a cast of interesting secondary characters, such as Atlas Jackson, who provides security for Theo, and a hacker named Marz. Both of them play pivotal roles in the story, and the tale also has its fair share of villains that I don't want to spoil. These characters add depth and connection to the story, making it a more engaging read.

Overall, 2024 Before Democracy is a great read that straddles many different genres without feeling disjointed. The underlying message is also intriguing enough to stay with readers long after they finish the story.
