About the Author

I always thought I'd end up as a writer. By the time I was forty, I'd ridden a pro rodeo bull, jumped from a bungee tower, performed stand-up comedy, played heavy metal in several bands, married (twice), founded (and bankrupted) two restaurants and consumed a stunning amount of adult beverages. But I hadn't published a word. So, I left my job and went back to school, earning a creative writing degree from Colorado State University. Since then, I've published nine novels, a dozen textbooks and several e-book novellas. More on the way. Coming in August - "A Persistent Echo." Maxy Award finalist for Historical Fiction. Kirkus Reviews says, "Kaufman is a fantastic writer with a distinctive poetic touch."
