Dr. Isaac Cohensius (1910 - 1993) was a graduate of the medical school at Utrecht, The Netherlands when the Nazis took him to be a doctor in their forced labor camps. With little practical experience, insufficient medication, lack of essential medical equipment, and terrible sanitary conditions, he took care of the sick and wounded camp prisoners as well as the Nazi officers and their families. He wrote notes for a diary, which he hid from the Nazis in the sick room, where no one except him dared enter. He was able to save the notes till after the war when he combined their content into this documentary book.
