Golden Angel - Suspense, Laughter, Friendship and Spice

Golden Angel is a USA Today best-selling author and self-described bibliophile with a "kinky" bent who loves to write stories for the characters in her head. If she didn't get them out, she's pretty sure she'd go just a little crazy. She is happily married, old enough to know better but still too young to care, and a big fan of happily-ever-afters, strong heroes and heroines, and sizzling chemistry. When she's not writing, she can often be found on the couch reading, in front of her sewing machine making a new cosplay, hanging out with her friends, or wandering the Maryland Renaissance Fair.  As our Author of the Day, she tells us all about her book, A Season for Treason.

Please give us a short introduction to what A Season for Treason is about.

I wanted to write a story about debutantes and spies, but I also wanted the debutantes to BE spies. Mary and Rex are actually characters from a previous series - Mary was introduced as a wallflower cousin who blended seamlessly into the background but always seemed to know what was going on, while Rex was the ton's most notorious rake who had finally started looking for a bride. It occurred to me that she would be the perfect spy, and that having a rake on the hunt for a bride and stumbling over the woman who no one else ever noticed while she was trying really hard not to be noticed because of her mission, would be a lot of fun.

Tell us more about Mary Wilson. What makes her tick?

Mary is motivated by loyalty - loyalty to her friends and the people she loves and loyalty to her country. When her friend Evie, niece to the Spymaster to the Crown, approaches their group of friends for help, those two loyalties come together and there is literally nothing Mary would not do to help. On the other hand, she's also found the Marquess of Hartford's eye on her and for the first time in her life, someone other than her three best friends has noticed her.

What makes the Marquess of Hartford such a catch?

He's bossy, protective, open-minded, with a sense of humor, rich, handsome and a total Alpha in the bedroom who likes to get kinky. Basically, he's the whole package.

Besides writing, what other secret skills do you have?

I do a lot of sewing and cosplay when I'm not writing and reading. I helped found a local cosplay / photographer meetup group, and while I'm no longer one of the organizers, I still try to make it to some meetups and see my friends, get more photos of my cosplays, and enjoy being creative in a totally different way!

Do any of your characters ever take off on their own tangent, refusing to do what you had planned for them?

All the time. Rex wasn't even supposed to exist. The story that he came into, Arabella's Taming, he appeared as a rival love interest which was NOT part of the outline. I have yet to win an argument with a character.

This is the first book in a series. Can it be read as a standalone? How do the other books in the series tie in with this one?

For the Deception and Discipline series, each book can be read as a standalone for the romance - they each have their own happily-ever-after for the couple - but if you want to know who the traitor is and see the final showdown, then you have to read all four books and they would be best read in order.

Mary and the Marquess are an unlikely couple. Why did you create them this way?

Honestly, I thought it would make for a lot of unique and humorous situations. I was not wrong.

What are you working on right now?

Right now I am working on the fourth book in my contemporary series, Switch Play, which releases in November. It's a contemporary BDSM series and this is my first book that will involve two switches rather than a Dom and a sub. I'm having a lot of fun with the different power dynamic!

Where can our readers discover more of your work or interact with you?

I am most active on Tiktok and Facebook, especially in my group the Golden Angel Legion Lair. You can find me on Tiktok @goldenangelromance. And, of course, all my information is up on my website at www.goldenangelromance.com

A Season for Treason
Golden Angel

Mary is used to fading into the background. People rarely notice her. It's a feature of being a wallflower, and it also makes her particularly suited to being used as a spy. But this Season is different... this Season the rakish Marquess of Hartford is on the hunt for a bride, and he sees Mary for everything she is.
