As a boy he was always fond of bird's nesting, and bat fowling, and was eager to try his hand upon game of a higher description. Will was ready enough to lead him on. The next autumn he gave him a few wires, taught him how to set them in the most likely places, and how to make more. His friend instructed him to set his wires in the evening, and when he returned to his flock in the morning, to go round and see how they had succeeded.
