A splendid book from end to end. "The science of deduction" is simple in itself, yet astounding in its discovery. A word for the author: Sir Arthur is a most marvelous storyteller. How he carefully and cautiously seams the two parts of the book is a feat that could only easily be accomplished by the most diligent and devout writer.
An impeccable read from start to finish. The character of Huck Finn makes the pluckiest kid a body might happen to know. His comrade, Tom, is no straggler, neither. And the end most teared me up, for Jim's sake; I come near crying when Tom revealed that Jim was a free man. There'll never be another author like Mark Twain, you bet your granny.
A marvelously written book for young readers. However, it is not to say that it is exclusive to them alone, for as a matter of fact, older groups may also learn and enjoy the earnest virtues that the story brings.
The authoress is indeed a model woman, regarding her multitude of experience with youngsters and of course, her apparent experience with her Creator.
First book I read by this author was Saved At Sea, and to a class of sixth graders. Such great impression it made on me and upon those seemingly untouched minorities, that I determined to read another book by this author, incidentally Black, White and Gray. I'm in a bit of a rush, so I'll say it here: this book is absolutely fantastic!
A wonderful book with a delicately knit plot. An insightful read of the outdoor life of Boys Scout; makes me want to be one of 'em. And an uncommon happy ending for all. Truly, the authoress is a first class storyteller.
Eight pages of a great work of literature by Ellis Parker Butler.
Favourite line: "Cold!" he said as he entered and began to beat his hands. "Can't you keep this place warm?"
