I generally like this author, but this story lacked his usual creativeness and the punch line at the end was weak. It's only 7 pages though, so not much lost to read.
A cute story about a criminal indirectly paying for his crime and an unexpected Christmas gift to an old widow. Not the author’s best, but a short fun read.
I’m a fan of Sabatini’s books and while they are almost all excellent, this is his masterpiece. If you haven’t read the author, start here and you’ll be hooked.
A great story full of action, adventure, and romance. This book and Captain Blood are probably his best known because pirate stories are popular, but I also recommend his book Saint Martin's Summer and other romances which are as well written.
The plot is of a man’s personal relationships which drives him into involvement in the French revolution and circumstances resulting from that. Action packed and a little romance. Sabatini has a florid writing style that was a little harder to read in this book, and in my opinion not quite as well written as some of his other books, but still a excellent story well worth reading.
I prefer a traditional romance as most of Sabatini’s other books, and didn’t care for this plot, but it’s only 10 pages, so not much to invest and decide for yourself.
This gives too much of the plot away, so read at your own risk: The story developments as a romance of a clergyman and a girl who deceives him into falling in love but ends with division of the classes being stronger than the love he felt.
