An absolute masterpiece. Sharply deliniated characters, caricatures of middle-class Antwerpen, never tedious or boring for even a second, ultimate realism, people exactly as we know them in everyday life. There is not a single improbable incident in the whole book. An absolute joy to read from cover to cover. If you are Dutch, you will need a dictionary (the big van Dale will do just fine), but aside from a few specificly Flemish words, this book is highly readable and moves along a good pace.
