A story about life in a small English town as seen through the eyes of a disabled Boar War vetern. It includes mystery, shame, patriotism and the lack of it. Not really a great read. May appeal to some.

A group of stories all very interesting on their own and loosely linked to one another mainly by their setting. A very good read by a timeless author.

Not one of his best in my opinion. As a true lover of mystery, I found this to be technical and boring.

A true life account of this journalist who got herself committed to a New York insane asylum to expose the atrocities and injustices suffered by the mentally ill. It is a very interesting study into the life and atitudes of the time. A good read!!

We spend thousands of dollars a year on weight loss books and remedies, and here in this little book published in 1918 we have the plain and simple truth--

"For harken, food and only food (sometimes plus alcohol) makes fat. Not water--not air--verlily nothing but food makes fat!"

Though some of the advice given like "it is okay to skip breakfast," is questionable, on the whole, this is a well written guide providing caloric tables, menus, formulas for determining daily caloric needs and discussions on the importance of being active. It is also midly humourous and reminds us that to be thin is "patriotic" for "FOOD WILL WIN THE WAR!" An excellent read.

An excellent book about two sisters living in poverty in New York. Interesting and emotional.

Parker Pace - A Psychological Thriller That is Probably Going to Mess With Your Head
FEATURED AUTHOR - Parker Pace was born in the UK, but Seattle is her home. More than anything, she loves to read. Give her a good book, and she doesn't care about the rest. She also loves live musicals and the theater. It fascinates her to see a story come to life. For her, there’s nothing like it in the world. The last musical she saw was Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. They don’t play that one as much as they used to, but it has a beautiful score and she highly recommends it.  As our Author of the day, Parker tells… Read more
