I happened to read this story for the first time as apart of our curriculum in English for Law students (Law and Literature) and I simply enjoyed the experience. It was an absolute delight anf a very engaging story...

Family Happiness is one of the best novellas I've ever read...while the plot is extremely simple as compared to other splendid Tolstoy works like Anna Karenina, War and Peace and Resurrection, Tolstoy's sheer style of writing and conveying the simplest of things in such a beautiful manner makes this book a highly enjoyable reading. I feel it's a must read especially for all young girls who're set to get married- it's neither overtly mushy nor overtly realistic. It's sweet and heart warming....
