Kathleen Kelly was born in Penrith, NSW, Australia. When she was four her family moved to Brisbane, QLD, Australia. Although born in NSW she considers herself a QUEENSLANDER!! She married her childhood sweetheart and they live in Toowoomba. Kathleen enjoys writing contemporary, romance novels with a little bit of erotica. She draws her inspiration from family, friends and the people around her. She can often be found in cafes writing and observing the locals. As our Author of the Day, she tells us about her Savage Angels Collection.

Please give us a short introduction to what the Savage Angels Collection is about.

The first book, Savage Stalker, sets the stage. International rockstar and wild child Kat Saunders has an accident that has her running home to her mother's house in the mountains. This is where she meets the President of the Savage Angels MC, Dane Reynolds and the beginning of their romance. As the rest of her band comes to see her, some become emotionally involved with other MC members and others meet the loves of their lives in the small town, Tourmaline that Kat now calls home.

This collection includes books 4 to 6 in the series. How do they tie in with books 1 to 3?

Can they be read as standalone? In all of the books, there are people who go from one book to the next. Book 4, Savage Lover follows Destiny & Kade. Book 5, Savage Sacrifice goes back to Kat & Dane, will they be able to overcome their differences? And Book 6, Savage Rebel, follows Rebel as he is given an important job in Las Vegas and also re-introduces us to Salvatore Agostino, Dane's brother-in-law from book 2, Savage Fire. Yes, you do need to read the Savage Angels MC in order.

Which book in the series is your personal favorite, and why?

Savage Sacrifice was my favorite in this boxset to write. It deals with the complexities of a relationship and how as a couple, even if you love each other, it might not be enough. In all relationships, there has to be give and take, compromise. It's hard when both of those people are strong and know what they want from the world. Will they be able to bend and maybe break in order to make it work? You'll have to read it to find out :)

Savage Lover features two people with a troubled past. Why did you take this approach?

It's the glue that brings them together. Not every relationship is going to be roses and love songs. Some have to overcome adversity and it makes them stronger in the long run.

In Savage Sacrifice, making sacrifices for the ones you love seems to be a central theme. Tell us more about it.

It's a tight line to walk. Dane loves Kat but as President of the MC he wants to protect her from it's less than legal activities. On the other side of that, you have Kat who's desperate to get Dane to let her in, to share everything, warts and all. Ultimately, both will need to change in order for them to stay together. But are they willing to do that?

Why did you pick Las Vegas as the backdrop for Savage Rebel?

Vegas ties in with the Abruzzi crime family from book 2, Savage Fire. We get to see a little more of Sal and see which way the Savage Angels are headed as an MC.

Besides writing, what other secret skills do you have?

I make a mean spaghetti bolognese. And for anyone who's met me they'll tell you I can talk underwater.

Readers say that your books are very action-packed. How do you pull this off?

I know that when I read a book, I like to be entertained. I like dialogue. My books are full of both.

Do any of your characters ever take off on their own tangent, refusing to do what you had planned for them?

All the time! It can be very frustrating. Sometimes they do things and I have NO idea why. As the book progresses it all comes together, my subconscious is a scary place, it doesn't always let me in on what's going on.

What is the hardest thing about being a writer?

Self-discipline and making myself write every day.

How do you force yourself to finish what you're doing before starting the next project when the new idea is nagging at you?

This is hard! And right now, I'm failing at this. I'm working on two books at once which is something I never do. Normally, it's one book at a time. One idea at a time.

Do you have any interesting writing habits? What is an average writing day like for you?

I like to write from 11 am to 3 pm. In the mornings I have a list written from the night before of things that I must do before 11 am if I don't finish, it goes on the list for the next day. From 3 pm onwards, I'm getting dinner ready for my husband or making treats for the next day. We are on a health kick... sort of... lol. So lots of protein balls etc.

What are you working on right now?

Spark of Vengeance and Tackling Love. Two totally different stories, Spark of Vengeance is book 2 in the MacKenny Brothers Series, it is a standalone and follows Sean, VP in the Loyal Rebels MC. Tackling Love, is a fun sports romance and if you've read Spark, book 1 in the MacKenny Brothers Series, you will recognize, the hero Colton.
