Old Rose and Silver

by Myrtle Reed

Lovely, in some places breathtaking, writing.

If you are a musician: the description of Rose accompanying Allison on his violin.....the vivid account of her experience.... breath-taking, really.
In fact, I found myself re-reading passages; it's one of the loveliest books I've read. I had searched for it a couple of years ago after it was mentioned by author Jan Karon; so, I was delighted to find it for my e-reader.

The ending did seem a little abrupt, but that could be because I did not want it to end.

A book that I will read again.

Author of the Day

Chris Seabranch
When Chris Seabranch is not on a treasure hunt, fleeing from aliens or conjuring up interesting scientific articles as a Danish science journalist, he likes to write fantasy books. Butterfly Islands is a great example of his storytelling skills, and was conceived during a 175 kilometer walk around Mount Blanc in France. As our Author of The Day, Seabranch chats about female pirates, 15 year olds and butterflies.
