Republic

by Charles Sheehan-Miles

Great. I enjoyed the novel. It's the story about what can happen when US government in the pursuit of terrorism ties down the civil liberties and changes America into a police state. Movement for freedom in West Virginia steers the state into the secession from US federation and into a civil war. Many different characters appear and storylines of their lives are told along the way to the end. Fear, rage, love, sadness, hopelessness, hope ... there is just everything.

(Nothing But) Flowers

by John G. McDaid

Interesting but sad short story. At the end you will get what it's all about. Or maybe not :)

Not a bad book but ... First half was written very good. Toward the end it has become mediocre and maybe even boring. Last third seemed like author couldn't decide weather to write in first person or in third person. The part about how to name the (first person) storyteller was especially ridiculous ;) Also the whole story itself wasn't very consistent throughout the book. The second part will hopefully be better. It has the potential.

Author of the Day

Angela Roquet
Angela Roquet loves everything macabre - with a dash of comedy. She is also fascinated by world religions, the afterlife and mythology. This clearly shows in her work, where mythological characters tend to make an appearance, showing off their more mundane sides. Today, Roquet talks to us about what inspired her book, Graveyard Shift, why she has a female reaper in the leading role and how she used to raise eyebrows in public with the types of books she was reading.
