Their success undoubtedly is based on the fact that they concentrate their best efforts on preventive instead of combative methods of treating disease. People are beginning to realize that it is cheaper and more advantageous to prevent disease than to cure it. To create and maintain continuous, buoyant good health means greater efficiency for mental and physical work; greater capacity for the true enjoyment of life, and the best insurance against failure and poverty. Therefore, he who builds health is of greater value to humanity than he who allows people to drift into disease through ignorance of Nature's laws, and then attempts to cure them by doubtful and uncertain combative methods.

It is said that in China the physician is hired and paid by the year; that he receives a certain stipend as long as the members of the family are in good health, but that the salary is suspended as long as one of his charges is ill. If some similar method o

An excellent read for anyone interested in the origins of naturopathic medicine. There are many good points about overall wellness and the body's natural healing capacity. It should be noted though that some of the techniques are out of date (or even harmful such as using mercury based salves) as the book was written in 1913. This doesn't diminish the overall value of reading this book, but it is something to note for anyone who is looking for practical remedies from this text.

Thanks for uploading such a wonderful book on the net!
This is a sacred scripture for a great, healthy, happy and fulfilling life.

The language is simple and the approach holistic.
The concepts and principles have been explained beautifully in a lucid style.

Yes, one needs so readjust perspective, but I think this is the biggest need of the day when majority of us are living under acute and chonic stress, and stress related health problems. Due to out fragmentary approach, we do not consider ourselves as part of the whole but as single entities concerned only about our personal gains, thus destroying the planet we live on.

A recent survey in India showed a steep rise in polio cases (after the polio vaccine campaign!), and they are not able to understand why.
I wish they could read the chapter on vaccination for answers. In fact, it will be good if all personnel involved in health-planning read this book.

The methods used for curing diseases are simple and inexpensive (and they work! I am a living example).

A must read (understand and apply) for one and all!
