accendeu; Qual touro, aberta a barreira, Com o mouro accommetteu. Aos golpes da herdada lança Muitos mouros expiraram, Muitos da espada a provança Cáro co'a vida pagaram; E no sangue de inimigos, Que pela Fé derramou, Entre azares, e perigos, Do pai a morte vingou.

Do defunto Ruy tal era o filho,
Que Pedro Affonso ao ermo acompanhava.
Já do cadente Sol o ultimo brilho
Nas bordas do horisonte se apagava,
De altas idéas no inspirado trilho
O provecto Ermitão continuava:
Quando subito o rosto alevantando
Volveu aos dois o aspecto venerando.
