Please give us a short introduction to what Chaos and Courage is about.

It's the tenth book in my series. In this book we get to know how it all ends for the teenagers and their parents in Shadow Hills. This is also when we find out who the killer is and all the loose ends are tied together. This is where we get all the answers.

Tell us more about Shadow Hills. Why did you pick this place as the backdrop of your series?

Shadow Hills is a place I made up. It doesn’t really exist. I thought it was best since it was a fantasy series.

The books in the series have a mixture of suspense, romance and mystery. Why did you write them this way?

Because that is the type of books that I like to read myself. I like it when there’s a little bit of everything.

Chaos and Courage is book 10 in the series. How many books are you planning for the series?

Readers say that they are already dreading the end. This is the last one. For now. I loved writing about these characters so much that I am sure there will be another season at some point.

Give us some more insights in your main characters, Jazmine, Jayden and Robyn. What makes them so special and how have they grown throughout the series?

When you meet them in book one they have no idea who they really are, or who their parents are. Little by little they discover secrets that have been kept from them all of their lives and they get entangled in a mystery that they solve together.

Why vampires? What drew you to these mythical creatures?

The series isn’t only about vampires. It’s also about werewolves, witches and dragons as well. All live in the same neighborhood while in hiding. The teenagers have been growing up in Shadow Hills without knowing this about their parents and without knowing that one day they too were going to become these creatures. I guess I just love all mythical creatures and I had the most fun writing about the dragon family.

Besides writing, what other secret skills do you have?

I surf whenever I get the chance. I live in Florida so it’s quite often.

You have sold more than two million books. What, would you say, is the secret to your success?

To keep going. To let nothing stop me. And to keep improving and always have fun while I write.

Tell us more about the covers for the series. How did they come about?

I have a cover artist that I use, Juan Padron is his name. He comes up with it. I just tell him a little about the book. He does all of my covers. I can warmly recommend him.

How do the books in this series tie in with one another? Can they be read as standalones?

No. These books all have to be read in order. They are quick reads that you run through very fast and you hardly notice you read ten books all of a sudden.

Do you ever suffer from writer's block? If so, what do you do to combat it?

I don’t. I always have two-three books in my mind that want to come out, and as soon as I am done with one, I start the next.

What do you do if you are busy writing a book and the idea for the next one starts nagging at the back of your head?

I constantly have many books nagging. I write the ideas down as soon as I get them. I have documents ready for the next many books that I can just begin whenever I have the time.

Do you have any interesting writing spots or writing habits? When are you at your most productive?

I write when the kids are in school. As soon as they are on the bus, I sit down with my coffee and begin. I write till they come home in the afternoon.

What is next for The Vampires of Shadow Hills?

I don’t know yet. Right now I am writing a couple of mysteries but at some point I will probably return to them and see what they’re up to.
