As our Author of the Day, she tells us all about The Dark Files, The Complete Collection.

Please give us a short introduction to what The Dark Files, The Complete Collection is about.

The Dark Files revolve around Samantha Beaumont, a Dark witch, and her ability to solve magical problems that come her way in each book, with the help of her friends, of course.

Was there anything in particular that inspired you to write this series?

I’ve always been fascinated with witches. I have characters that are witches in my previous books, but never a story that was really about witches. I thought it was time to write a series with the main heroine as a witch.

Why urban fantasy? What drew you to the genre?

Urban Fantasy because it’s what I love to read, and my stories come that genre naturally, and my head.

Besides writing, what other secret skills do you have?

I worked in Visual Effects for 15 years before letting that go to become a fulltime writer. I was a 3d Animation supervisor for tv series and some Hollywood films. As an artist, I’ve been using Photoshop for over twenty years, and I like to do my book covers when I have the time. I love working on my covers, it's relaxing and really enjoyable.

Which book in the series is your personal favorite and why?

The last book in the series, Curses & Blood is my favorite, its where everything ties up nicely, where all the loose ends are wrapped up. It’s also where we get a real look inside Faris, a demon, and my favorite character in the books. We get a glimpse of his vulnerability, and we discover that he’s not so different than humans after all.

Can the books be read as standalones? How do they tie in with one another?

Unfortunately, I would have to say no. To really appreciate the story and the books, you need to start at the beginning.

What are you working on right now?

I’m working on a new Urban Fantasy series called Shadow Witch, The Witches of Hollow Cove. Yup, more witches. The pre-orders are ready and links can be found on my website/Facebook page.
