Tonya Duncan Ellis is author of the Sophie Washington children's book series, geared to readers ages 8-12. The five books chronicle a precocious African American 10-year-old and her diverse group of friends, as they navigate common middle grade issues like dealing with bullies, social media and video games, school work and puppy love, with a Texas-twist. Sophie lives in the suburbs of Houston, Texas and encounters alligators, hurricanes, flooding, and rodeo animals, opening up an exciting new world to readers. In addition to being an author Tonya writes feature articles for family magazines. She lives in Houston with her husband and three children. When she's not reading and writing she enjoys swimming, biking and travel.
