J.R. Roper is a teacher and writer living in West Michigan with his lovely wife and sons. He is the author of The Morus Chronicles, a fantasy series for middle grade readers. The first two books, The Hunter Awakens and The Spirit of Steel are now available along with a collection of short stories titled Mel & the Black Rider. Roper's work has appeared in the 2015 ArtPrize Anthology, ChildGood Magazine, Families First Monthly, and in anthologies by Crushing Hearts and Black Butterfly Publishing, Horrified Press, and Thirteen O'Clock Press.
Awards include a 2015 Children’s Literary Classics Gold Award in Preteen Fantasy, 2015 Readers' Favorite Gold Medal Award in Children's Action, Best Children's Novel of 2014: Preditors & Editors Readers' Poll, and a Literary Classics Seal of Approval. The Hunter Awakens was one of ten novels recommended by Readers’ Favorite to Wind Dancer Films for TV or movie consideration. Roper’s work has also been nominated for a Pushcart Award.
