About the Author

Patrick Weill’s mother reports that he started reading at two years of age and that one of his early favorites was a lawnmower catalog. His recollection of those events, however, is foggy at best. Fictional tales of courageous deeds have always played a vital part in his life. Weill remembers countless bedtime superhero stories told to him by his parents as a child, and summers spent sprawled out on the couch with a stack of books from the library. Favorite series included The Three Investigators, The Hardy Boys, Choose Your Own Adventure, and books by Agatha Christie and Clive Cussler. As an adult, Weill moved on to works by authors including Lee Child, John Grisham, Arthur Conan Doyle, Ian Fleming, and David Baldacci, while making his living as a lifeguard, a professional saxophonist, a licensed teacher, then a commercial and literary translator, and finally as a thriller author. His translation business took off in 2013. It was a brief flight. Owing to a host of factors including machine translation, it was in a tailspin by 2018, and by the pandemic it had crashed. The upside was a massive amount of free time, so like his literary hero, Lee Child, who also found himself out of work with a family to support, Weill wrote a book. Then another. Now he’s on his third. Pat was surprised to find himself lost in the pleasure of creating stories. He hopes and believes that you, too, will find solace and excitement in his work.
