Jeanne Bender, an American author, began her writing career at a young age. One day she decided to write a children’s chapter book series. Her goal was to provide children with easy-to-read books at a 6-8 year old reading level. Her aim is to encourage children to advance from picture books into their first chapter books. Jeanne chose a large font format, kept the chapters short, and included several color illustrations. Jeanne's puppy, Lindie Lou, was traveling the world with her. Because of Lindie Lou’s adventurous spirit, Jeanne decided to write books "through the eyes of Lindie Lou" and the Lindie Lou Adventure Series was born. In these books, Lindie Lou travels to different places, and meets up with her brothers, sisters, friends and family. Together they overcome challenges and learn social-emotional life lessons which are highlighted in red letters in each one of the books. Jeanne engaged a group of school educators to advise her about age-appropriate subject matter. They also provide downloadable learning activities on the Lindie Lou website. Twelve books are planned for the series. Jeanne's goal is to encourage children to “discover the world through the adventures of Lindie Lou."
